DOI Prefix & Maintenance Application

DOI Prefix Assignment Fees

To begin using the DOI you will need a publisher prefix. There is a one-time set up fee for the publisher
prefix of $250. You may elect to use individual prefixes for each imprint or line of business or a single prefix for your entire company. Normal business processing is 10 days for the establishment of this prefix.

DOI Annual Maintenance Fees

At the time you apply for your prefix, you will also need to determine what level of maintenance you anticipate for the coming year based on the total number of DOIs you expect to register. There is no carry-over of these fees to subsequent years

Up to 999 DOIs	$500 per year
Up to 4999 DOIs	$1000 per year
Up to 9999 DOIs	$1500 per year

Each item registered with Bowker will have a basic product information page in the Registry which includes the critical metadata about the item and links to any other related DOIs.

Once you have been assigned a prefix and annual maintenance contract, you may begin submitting DOIs for registration. This can be easily done in spread-sheet format which will be sent to you along with your prefix.
